Lake Wallace hosts an annual “Gone Fishing Day,” with the most recent event occurring on Sunday, October 20, 2024, organized by Wallerawang CAS. The next official Gone Fishing Day is scheduled for Sunday, October 19, 2025, as part of a nationwide celebration of recreational fishing.
NRSFC Ladies Fishing Classic is a female only team fishing competition run by Nhulunbuy Regional. This is the largest women’s event in Australia with both Individual and Team awards available. This event is a points based event with best two fish per species per day.

There will be a debriefing the night before and some great prizes to be won. The Mullies Marine Fishing Competition is an annual, open-to-everyone event held in Victoria, Australia, where anglers compete to catch the largest total length of eligible species, submitting photos of their catches via the Track My Fish app to win prizes. We began Max’s Cast for a Cure Fishing Competition as a perfect way to honour Max’s life. He was such a smart and happy boy, he was always eager to get out on the boat and was determined to catch a bigger fish than dad. As Charlie Teo brought many more years of fishing and laughter to our little boy’s life, we thought this would be the best way to honour. Max’s life and to raise awareness of childhood brain cancer.

The Mangawhai Boating & Fishing Club was first established in 1966, and in 1998 affiliated to the NZBGFC (now the NZ Sport Fishing Council Inc).
