I haven’t fished for salmon before, how can I catch one?

During the autumn run, big salmon schools can be found along many beaches in the Great Southern and South West as they migrate north towards Perth.

To locate salmon schools – look out for dark patches in or beyond the surf break – particularly ones that are moving! Once you’ve found a salmon school, simply cast your lure or bait into or near the salmon school and then hold on!

If using bait, a paternoster with a mulie on gang hooks and a star sinker on the bottom is a simple rig that will get the job done.
